Bellamonte Professional — Shipping Policy

This policy describes how we ship orders from our distribution center in Urbandale, Iowa to licensed beauty professionals across the United States. By placing an order, you agree to the terms below. Where this policy refers to title, risk of loss, or damaged shipments, our Terms of Service and Refund Policy also apply.

Where we ship

We ship to commercial and residential addresses in the contiguous 48 United States and Washington, DC. We do not ship internationally.

Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, and other U.S. territories: Available case-by-case at additional cost. Email hello@bellamontepro.com for a quote before placing the order.

APO / FPO / DPO addresses: Most professional products can be shipped to APO/FPO/DPO addresses via USPS, but hazardous materials cannot (see Hazardous materials below). Contact us before ordering if your shipment contains color, developer, or aerosol products.

PO Boxes: UPS and FedEx, our primary carriers, do not deliver to PO Boxes. Provide a physical street address. USPS-only shipments to PO Boxes may be accommodated for small, non-hazardous orders on request.

Processing time

Orders typically ship within 1 business day of order acceptance and payment. "Business day" means Monday through Friday, excluding U.S. federal holidays and the days our distribution center is closed (we will post a holiday-closure notice on the dashboard when applicable).

Same-day shipping is available for orders placed before [2:00 PM CT] Monday through Friday, subject to inventory availability and carrier pickup. Orders placed after the cutoff, on weekends, or on holidays will ship the next business day.

First-time accounts: First orders may be held briefly while we verify your professional license and resale or tax-exemption documentation. This rarely takes more than one additional business day. We will email you if anything is missing.

Credit-hold accounts: Orders for accounts that are past due will not ship until the account is brought current. See our Terms of Service for credit-hold details.

Carriers and shipping methods

Our default carrier is UPS Ground for parcel shipments. We may substitute carriers (FedEx Ground, USPS Priority, regional carriers) at our discretion based on package size, destination, and product type.

Transit times are estimates only and are not guaranteed. We cannot expedite shipments that contain hazardous materials (see below).

Shipping costs

Shipping is calculated at checkout based on package weight, dimensions, destination ZIP code, product classification, and carrier rates in effect at the time the order is placed. Applicable handling, packaging, residential, hazmat, and address-correction surcharges, where they apply, are also calculated at checkout or quoted on order acceptance. The total shipping charge is shown on your order confirmation before the order is finalized.

Shipping rates, surcharges, and any promotional offers are subject to change at any time without notice. The rates that apply to your order are the rates in effect when the order is placed.

Hazardous materials

Many of the products we distribute, including hair color developers, lighteners, peroxide treatments, and aerosol fixatives, are classified as hazardous materials under U.S. Department of Transportation regulations (49 CFR Parts 171–180). Federal law restricts how we can ship them:

  1. Ground transport only. Hazmat cannot be shipped by air. Expedited methods (Next-Day Air, 2-Day Air) are unavailable for orders containing hazmat.
  2. No PO Boxes. Carriers will not deliver hazmat to PO Boxes.
  3. No international or APO/FPO/DPO destinations for hazmat.
  4. A hazmat handling surcharge may apply to orders containing DOT-regulated items. The amount is shown at checkout.
  5. Special packaging. Hazmat ships in DOT-compliant packaging, which may make the carton larger than expected.
  6. Driver release. Some carriers require an adult signature on hazmat deliveries; the driver will not leave the package unattended.

If you need a product expedited and your order contains hazmat, we can split the order at your request and ship the non-hazmat portion by air separately, with shipping charged at cost.

Heat-sensitive products and extreme weather

Professional hair color, developers, and certain treatments are sensitive to extreme temperatures. During summer heat waves and winter cold snaps, we monitor weather along the shipping lane and may, at our discretion:

  • Hold a shipment until temperatures moderate (rarely more than 24 hours, and only with your knowledge)
  • Add insulating packaging and ice packs
  • Recommend expedited shipping (at your cost) when ground transit would expose product to risk

We are not responsible for thermal damage to product during transit once title has passed (see Terms of Service §5). However, if a product arrives visibly compromised by heat or freezing, follow the damage-reporting process in our Refund Policy and we will work with the carrier to make it right.

Signature on delivery

A signature on delivery may be required by the carrier or by us based on the contents and value of the shipment, the destination, and DOT requirements for hazardous materials. When a signature is required, the carrier will not leave the package unattended and will attempt redelivery up to three times before returning the shipment to us. If a shipment is returned because no one was available to sign, you will be responsible for any return-shipping and reconsignment fees the carrier charges us.

For shipments that do not require a signature, the carrier may leave the package at the address. Once delivery is confirmed by the carrier (whether by signature, photo, or driver release), risk of loss has passed to you.

Address accuracy

You are responsible for providing a complete, accurate, deliverable shipping address at order time. We ship to the address on the order; we cannot redirect a package once it has been tendered to the carrier without paying the carrier's reconsignment fee, which we will pass through to your account.

We strongly recommend including a contact name, phone number, and any required suite, unit, or salon name on the address to avoid delivery delays.

Tracking

A tracking number is emailed to the address on the order as soon as the carrier scans the package. You can also view tracking on your order page in the dashboard. If you have not received a tracking number within 2 business days of placing your order, contact hello@bellamontepro.com and we will look into it.

Backorders and partial shipments

If an item on your order is temporarily out of stock, we will, at our discretion and depending on the size and urgency of your order, either:

  1. Hold the entire order until everything is in stock and ship it complete (default for small orders);
  2. Ship a partial order of the in-stock items now and the backordered items later at no additional shipping charge (typical for large orders or color-priority restocks); or
  3. Cancel the backordered line and refund or credit it to your account, with the rest of the order shipping normally.

We will email you with a recommendation if your order contains any backordered item.

LTL freight (large orders and equipment)

Orders that exceed parcel-carrier weight or dimension limits, or that include salon equipment from Pietranera or other equipment partners, ship via LTL freight rather than UPS or FedEx Ground. We tender LTL shipments to the freight carrier we determine, in our discretion, offers the best combination of price, transit time, and reliability for your destination at the time of shipment.

LTL freight is quoted at prevailing market rates at the time of order acceptance and is in addition to product cost. The quote includes:

  1. Carrier line haul to your destination ZIP
  2. Liftgate service (required for residential and most salon deliveries) at carrier rates
  3. Residential / non-commercial surcharge where the destination is not zoned commercial
  4. Limited-access or appointment-delivery fees if applicable

The freight carrier will call you 24–48 hours before delivery to schedule a window. Inspect the pallet before signing the carrier's bill of lading. Note any visible damage on the bill of lading at the time of delivery; signing clean for a damaged pallet may waive your carrier-claim rights.

Will-call pickup

You may pick up your order in person at our Urbandale distribution center during business hours (Monday–Friday, [9:00 AM – 4:00 PM CT]). Place the order online and select Will Call at checkout, or note Will Call in the order comments. We will email you when the order is ready, typically the same business day for orders placed before noon.

Bring a copy of the order confirmation and a government-issued photo ID. We may ask to see your active professional license on first pickup.

Damaged, defective, or lost shipments

For damage, defects, or shortages discovered on receipt, follow the inspection-and-reporting process in our Refund Policy. The window for reporting is 5 business days from delivery for damage and shortages; defects are covered for the full 30-day return window.

For packages that show as delivered by the carrier but you have not received, check with neighbors, the salon receptionist, and any package-management service the building uses, then contact us within 5 business days of the scanned delivery date and we will open a carrier trace.

Title and risk of loss

All shipments are FOB Origin (Urbandale, Iowa). Title and risk of loss pass to you when we tender the goods to the carrier at our shipping point. For full terms, see our Terms of Service §5.
